FF7 is still my favorite game [of all time] for the plot ... and more plot - and ALL that story / back story / interactions.
My -first- console game was FFX - and it sucked in my brain and allegiance because of the beauty, characters and story. But FF7 fully grabbed my attention. It was also my first experience with an unreliable narrator/main -game- character with memory problems. [Plus I liked that Cloud was assumed to be the competent one and explained to others how the game mechanics worked in several places ^_^].
