Just realised I misread the post, and that you meant Kimahri was 15 at the time, not during the game's progression, apologies, my mistake. But yeah, tis a nice change to see a playthrough with better exposition, accompanied with good humour :)
Part of me think Kimahri was probably very mature for his age: he was most likely bullied for being short, as many people irl are treated for being outside the norm during their teenage years, and that probs forced him to grow-up quickly and learn how to deal with personal problems. He's always been shown to be a stoic character since his leaving Gagazet, but always has had honour, can see him having someone ask him for help, a dying, wounded man at that, and him having no purpose at the time, but wanting one, taking up the charge with grace, honour, and vigour. The convo at the Moonflow about him and Yuna crossing, you can tell he cared about her a lot even then, and took his charge really seriously :)
